Notable personal excess liability coverage features
Coverage for Defence Costs
Our personal excess liability policy includes coverage to defend you against claims of bodily injury, defamation, libel, slander, wrongful entry or eviction and emotional distress. Defence costs do not reduce the amount of coverage available to pay damages on eligible claims.
Coverage for Reputation Damage
If you are accused of something that puts the reputation of you or a family member at risk, we will pay up to $25,000 for a crisis management firm to help you respond and recover.
Fewer Out-of-Pocket Expenses
Our excess liability coverage is intended to pick up where your primary policy (Homeowners, Automobile or Watercraft) ends, reducing coverage gaps and out-of-pocket expenses.1 Our drop-down coverage feature also means that you’re protected for an entire covered loss, even if the underlying policy does not apply or is not required.
1. The underlying limit must be at least equal to the required minimum in order to avoid coverage gaps.
Worldwide Coverage
Our coverage can help protect you against claims of personal injury, bodily injury and property damage anywhere in the world.
Optional specialized coverages
Domestic Employment Practices Liability Coverage
If you employ domestic staff such as drivers, housekeepers or childcare providers, you can add coverage to protect against wrongful employment allegations and crisis management services to help preserve your reputation.
Uninsured Motorist and Uninsured Personal Liability Coverage
This optional coverage can protect against injuries or damages caused by an at-fault third party.
